No break for Catrachos

The Under 17 squad from Honduras will not take part in the spring break because they will play a series of friendly honduras-sub17matches against Club Pachuca’s youth teams. They will stay there for the rest of the week. Honduras will face Canada on the inaugural match day of the Under 17 World Cup Qualifier at the Estadio Caliente, home of the Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente, more commonly known as the “Xolos” or “Dogs”. The United States and Cuba will also play as Group A takes center stage on the first day of the tournament. The 2009 edition of the Under 17 World Cup will be held in Nigeria.

Xoloitzcuintles triumph over Caborca on Third Division

The Third Division from Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente won against its Caborca rival. Bruno Piceno and Luis Angel Lopez were the scorers for the home team, the young goalkeeper Ignacio Segreste successfully defended the “canine” goal. The team managed by Ramiro Briseño will travel next week to Navojoa, Sonora to face the local team. On other news, Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente Vaqueros de Nayarit, who play in the Second Mexican Division will face Zorros de Reynosa in the 13 match day of the Clausura 2009. Enrique Salinas and Arturo Luna are expected to play this match.

Friendly games at Habana

The Under 17 squads for Mexico and Cuba will play a series of friendly matches in La Habana, according to the Cuban Football Federation. “It will be very beneficial to play against the tournaments home team, one with such tradition and history in the continent” said CFF Vicepresident Victor Aragon. The first match will be held on the 7th and the second one at the 9th at Pedro Marrero  stadium. Cuba just arrived from a Haitian tour, were they manage to comeback with a win, a loss and a draw. The last result was against the same category team from Haiti. The World Cup Qualifier will be held in Tijuana, Mexico at the Estadio Caliente, home of the Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente from April 21st to May 2nd.  Cuba will face the first round in Group A with the USA, Honduras and Canada. If successful, they will play against a rival from Group B were Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Trinidad & Tobago will try to qualify to the next round. A total of four teams will advance to the semifinals, two from each group.  

No todos descansan en Semana Santa

 
TEGUCIGALPA.HONDURAS.- Mientras el Presidente del país, Mel Zelaya, anunció con bombos y platillos que los empleados públicos gozarían de toda la semana de feriado para disfrutar del triunfo de la selección absoluta frente a México, el técnico del representativo Sub-17, Emilio Umanzor, dio a conocer que sus muchachos no disfrutarían de un tan solo día de descanso porque para lograr cosas grandes hay que trabajar mucho, buena enseñanza para el mandatario. Se prolonga Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol en La Habana

Este lunes debía concluir el del 94 Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol, con el choque entre Isla de la Juventud y La Habana, pero a la falla del traslado de Villa Clara a Santiago de Cuba, habrá que esperar a lo que suceda este martes en la cancha santiaguera Antonio Maceo, entre estos últimos dos equipos.
